Alia Akkam, QAX Blogger
Ever since her soap opera-inspired short stories hung on the wall of Fork Lane Elementary School, Alia knew a writing career was in the cards. Today her life revolves around the cultural intersections of food, drink, travel, and design. When she’s not interviewing architects and designers as managing editor of Hospitality Design magazine, she’s eating her way through her favorite borough as editor of Edible Queens and penning stories on restaurants and cocktails for outlets such as Paper and Liquor.com.
Lizabeth Nieves, QAX photographer and QAX Block Party coordinator
Lizabeth is a photographer and curator living and working in New York, NY. She is the co-founder of In Bloom Collective and the webzine Glitter and Doom. Lizabeth’s photography can be found on www.glitterunicorn.com.
Kevin O’Leary, Moveable Feast videographer
Kevin started playing drums at 15 and after a few years of driving his mother crazy from practicing, he borrowed her old Nikon that was collecting dust, became obsessed with all things photographic, and mom never got her camera back.
These days, Kevin is sometimes on drums, playing in the city or touring with any number of bands. And sometimes he is photographing the most important moments in people’s lives, and sometimes he’s shooting music videos for bands that you have probably seen at a summer mega festival.
If you happen to meet Kevin at one of his favorite local spots in his neighborhood of Astoria, you will likely be treated to his wry observations about the world. Pay attention while it’s free, as his humor may one day come at the steep price of a two-drink minimum at a dimly lit club.
