At LPAC development is the key and the LPAC LAB Residency provides a venue for emerging NYC artists with free rehearsal space, technical and marketing support for a run of performances. On its Mainstage Theatre and Little Theatre, LPAC reaches 30,000 people from Queens annually (home to 2.2 million) and the tri-state area through 52 affordable events and a variety of performing series.</p>
<p>The program for Thursday night, the first day of QAX 2010, features a performance poet,  artist reception and a hot series of emerging film makers from the LaGuardia Community as LPAC &#8220;Screens On The Mainstage.&#8221;</p>
<h2>4:30pm: &#8220;GROWING UP QUEENS&#8221;</h2>
<p>Queens-born Performance Poet kahlil almustafa presents selections from his collection of poetry, &#8220;Growing Up Hip-Hop.&#8221; Joining kahlil for the event are poetry students from across Queens. Participating schools include: Renaissance Charter School, Henry Street International, Hyde Leadership andvothers.</p>

<h2>7:00pm: LPAC Screens On The Mainstage</h2>
<p><strong>SEVEN WORD PAIRS FOR THE #7 TRAIN:Directed by Priscilla Stadler</strong></p>
<p>Shot entirely from the front window of the #7 train, our journey through Queens becomes even more dynamic with changes in speed and rhythm, gradations of shifting color, and superimposed text with phrases that NYC subway riders will recognize.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Secret Theatre</strong> in Long Island City opened to the public on September 5, 2007.  Richard Mazda, Artistic Director and Owner, saw a life long dream fulfilled as the studio’s conception and construction came together.  Their facility is custom-built and therefore capable of handling various shows from proscenium to in-the-round. There is a full, programmable lighting system and excellent sound. Their seating capacity varies from 40-60, or 100 standing depending on the configuration. In addition to seeing innovative theatre, The Secret also offers opportunities to members of LIC and the artistic community through their Children’s Theatre and various workshops offered.</p>
<p>The Secret’s mission is to enrich the NY Theatre scene by fostering a unique, creative environment in LIC.</p>
