Leap Dance Project Showcase
Queens Council on the Arts and the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center present a showcase performance on Friday, June 15th, 8pm at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center Little Theater by participants of the Leap Dance Project, ten-month skills and community building program for Queens dance artists.
Featured artists include: Emily Berry (beyond third wave) Sarah Council (Sarah Council Dance Projects), Gabriel Forestieri (Project Limb), Leeanne M. G-Bowley (In-Sight Dance Company), Barbara Mahler, Jessi Patz, Leslie Scott (BODYART Dance), Deb Silver (SilCo Dance) and Shauna Sorenson in a varied program presenting the best of what’s happening in dance in Queens.
The Leap Dance Project is a professional development program designed to support individual dance artists and foster a community of dance professionals living and working in Queens. Created by Queens Council on the Arts in partnership with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, this ten-month program features professional development workshops with experts in the field; peer leadership circles to promote the exchange of information, resources and ideas; admission to local performances; subsidized rehearsal space, and a performance opportunity in conjunction with the Queens Art Express. The Leap Dance Project is funded by the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, NEA and New York Community Trust.
