About the Artist

Photographer Ocean Morisset specializes in photojournalism and documentation. He also explores fine art, telling stories with images. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, he was a Medic in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He now continues this path at civilian medical institutions, caring for people with HIV/AIDS. When Ocean was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2011, he turned the camera on himself. “In preparation for my ‘new reality,’ I shaved my long dreadlocks off, and documented my journey as a means to heal, educate and maybe inspire someone to travel through their own affliction with dignity and pride. I create as I fight…” After 12 chemotherapy treatments, Ocean’s cancer is now in remission.
